September 23rd & 24th Harvest Festival & Parade Old-fashioned family fun abounds at the Harvest Festival. The Harvest Festival serves as a tribute to agriculture, the area's leading industry. Among the many attractions are a parade, toe-tapping entertainment, agricultural exhibits, and an array of food, game, and arts and crafts booths.

Centennial Essay Contest
All elementary, middle school and high school students from schools in Arroyo Grande were asked to write an essay titled “What I Love About Arroyo Grande”, which would express their ideas and feelings about what makes their community special.
The essay could include any topics and features of interest related to the community and was judged on the student's creativity, organization, language and grammar usage.
The winning essays will be placed in the Centennial Time Capsule to be opened in 100 years at the City’s Bi-Centennial Celebration.
