September 23rd & 24th Harvest Festival & Parade Old-fashioned family fun abounds at the Harvest Festival. The Harvest Festival serves as a tribute to agriculture, the area's leading industry. Among the many attractions are a parade, toe-tapping entertainment, agricultural exhibits, and an array of food, game, and arts and crafts booths.

The City of Arroyo Grande began in 1867 as a political township from land owned by Francisco Zeba Branch. Due to the prime agricultural soil, mild coastal climate and the establishment of the Pacific Coast Railway, Arroyo Grande quickly grew and was incorporated as a City on July 10, 1911.
Over the past 100 years Arroyo Grande has maintained its unique character and community spirit. Its agricultural heritage and historic Village area as well as its cultural amenities and strong business foundations make Arroyo Grande a desirable and diverse city that is loved by its residents and visitors alike.
~2011~ will be a year of celebration in Arroyo Grande as we honor our centennial. Events are planned throughout the year with a special celebration on Sunday, July 10th; the 100th anniversary of the City’s incorporation.
There will be commemorative memorabilia available including a centennial edition of “Images of America - Arroyo Grande” written by local historians Jean Hubbard and Gary Hoving.
